The Winery at St. George – a local gem

St_George_Logo_-_1-314x137Sitting on a corner in Mohegan Lake is a beautiful former church which was built in 1912. The distinct features of this French Norman architecture are not going to waste.

Owner Thomas DeChiaro purchased the property and put many restoration/design dollars into the project.

The winery is gorgeous, calming, and exciting all at once.

Currently, the winery is resolving issues with the town to open commercially; but it is open for fund raising events and you should make every attempt to check it out.

The vineyard iself is just turning three years old and is located at Hanover Hilltop Farms. The varietals planted are: Cabernet Franc, Seyval Blanc and Noiret. They hope to be harvesting and making high quality wine very soon.

At recent events they have featured three wines to taste, complimentary, and a specially featured wine from Wayne Gretzky Estates.

Visit their website to get information on upcoming events. It will be worth your while.

The town of Yorktown just became a better place because of The Winery at St. George.
