Jackie Gleason may have been proud… Gleason’s

Gleason’s opened in August of 2012. It is a narrow yet long space (think railroad apartment in the city) but so very charming. The aesthetic is so calming and very retro with Edison lighting and crenelation. This can make for a noisy space and certainly the dining room could benefit from some attention in that department.

The crux of the menu is flatbreads, yet there is always a very interesting and substantial “specials” board outside of the pizza realm. The menu is succinct and one page. We have seen people “walk out” yet these are types that like to peruse a menu of many pages. To us, the concise nature of the menu is a refreshing change of pace.

Pizza of pickled onions, caramelized onions, gorgonzola, and shredded pork

The beer (eight line draft system) and wine menu have a nice concise range of offerings. This new venture is the brain trust of the same partners from Birdsall House and is a welcome addition to northern Westchester. Prices are reasonable and portions satisfying.

Give them a try. We are sure you won’t be disappointed.
