Mint reinvents itself

Hassan Jarane, Mint’s proprietor, has realized an opportunity and has seized it. Across the street from its former location in Tarrytown, Mint has retooled. It continues to be a fascinating source of interesting foods and cheeses from around the world; but he has now added a restaurant.

The space is much more comfortable than then tiny former sliver shop. Seating however is limited to approximately 24. The is no printed menu and the offerings change daily. Both lunch and dinner are served.

On one experience we were presented with an amuse bouche — which is always a nice treat.

Other selections have included a flavorful and well executed jambalaya. Moroccan chicken didn’t disappoint, immensely flavorful with deep, rich colors and spices.

In the market, they will soon be offering “refill your own” olive oils…. Purchase a bottle, choose an olive oil. When empty, come in with your bottle and refill. The market’s integrity has not changed. In fact, Mint has more space for even more amazing selections from around the globe. The cheese offerings here are some of the most interesting in the area. Barrels of olives, interesting chocolates, vinegars, and a beer selection of brands you’ve most likely never encountered. Worth visiting.
