Birdsall House – – a lunch retreat

Looking for a place to eat where they care about eating local food that is in season and drinking good beer?Birdsall House becomes the destination. The menu is quite diverse and interesting. A varied selection of house-made charcuterie will not disappoint and they have different levels of tasting (quantity and pricing). They make their own charcuterie and procure the organic meats from Hemlock Hill Farm in Cortlandt Manor.

Selections of Hudson Valley cheeses are available. If you’re looking for soups, salads and the like you’ll find it here. They have a vegetarian  beet and grain burger that is quite delicious. You will not be disappointed in the beer offerings – – a huge selection at-the-ready.

A new outdoor eating patio has been deployed for beautiful sunny al fresco imbibing.

This post was titled with lunch in mind, but know that they have a full dinner menu as well. Chef March Walker is delivering some very delectable eats!

Below are just a couple of featured items on today’s menu.

First is an onion soup done in the style of a French Onion Soup but this one is made from a lamb based stock.

The Fried Calamari Salad below is delicious. It features perfectly fried and seasoned calamari  on a bed of frisee. It is dressed with a fresh and tangy lemon-caper vinaigrette. On top, there is a perfectly prepared soft-boiled egg with tomato confit and garlic aioli.
